The single most common question that I've gotten asked over the past 20+ years I've spent in the health & fitness industry is this one right here...
"How do I get rid of belly fat?"
(or, "How do I get a flatter stomach?")
It seems like everybody wants to get rid of belly fat, get a flatter stomach, to lose weight & to better... (no surprise there, right?)
Based on this desire, many people believe (& then proceed to do) hundreds & hundreds of ab crunches (or other 'core' exercises like it) every week...
They think this will help them to burn belly fat & get a flatter stomach...
But, this is a myth...
See, the process of breaking dow fat into glucose (the sugar used as energy by the body) is actually done through the liver…
And so, while your abdominal muscles may be screaming out for energy while doing your 1000 ab crunches, since the glucose is sent from the liver, your muscles do not care where your fat came from…
It could have come from your face! (actually, it usually does... which is exactly why when you go on a "diet", you first lose weight from your face… or ladies, from your boobs — which absolutely no one wants!)
Let’s take a step back…
Why do you lose weight from your face first? (& not the dangerous area of your abdominal region or other stubborn areas people — especially the ladies — struggle with, such as the hips, butt, thighs & upper arms...)
Well, your lymphatic system is the sewage system of the body — helping your body get rid of toxins alongside the liver...
When your system becomes overloaded with toxins, it starts to store them around your fat cells (away from vital organs)... as a defense mechanism to keep you alive.
This happens where all your major lymph nodes are situated (exit points in the lymphatic system) — the neck, armpits, groin area & abdominal region (where half of your lymph nodes are situated)...
All the areas people struggle with & unfortunately for the ladies again — that’s where cellulite forms.
