The Harmful (Even Fatal!) Consequences Of Poor Sleep!

A good comparison to sleep is alcohol, as studies show that a lack of sleep has a similar effects on your brain, body & cognition as drinking alcohol does...
  
Specifically, studies show that merely a couple of back-to-back nights of sleeping 4 or 5 hours per night is enough to creates an significant impairment, equivalent to a blood alcohol level of 0.1% - which is beyond the 0.08% that identifies someone as legally drunk!
  
Ask yourself... would you show up to the office, for an important presentation, or for a date... completely wasted? 

If you wouldn't, then you probably shouldn't show up sleep deprived either, as cognitively, it's a very similar thing!

When you're not getting good quality sleep, research also shows that you'll be less focused, less creative, less motivated, less productive...

Poor sleep can even lead to both short-term & long-term memory problems & a faster-aging, poorer-functioning brain in general.

Physically, it's the exact same story...

Lower Sex Drive, Worse Mood, Risk Of Depression, Weight Gain, Obesity Risk, Weakened Immune System & More!

Not only does less sleep lower your sex drive & worsen your mood (both of which also contribute to worse relationships with others & potentially even divorce amongst spouses) & even lead to higher risk of depression in people....

Poor sleep also makes you gain weight & gives you a far higher higher risk of obesity (73% higher, as per one study!)...

Other studies now prove that less sleep can lower the effectiveness of your immune system (by up to 50%!) making you more likely to get sick & more vulnerable to germs, bacteria or disease of virtually any kind...

A good example of this is the now-famous study ran by Anders Ericsson (later popularised by Malcolm Gladwell in his book, Outliers)...

It was the study that first revealed the "10,000-hour rule" (which states that it takes 10,000 hours of deliberate practice to achieve mastery at one's field)...
  
In that study, Anders Ericson found that the best violinists spent more time practicing than the merely good students...
  
"Deliberate practice" — found to be the #1 predictor of high performance.
  
But take a guess at what the #2 most important factor was...?  
  
That's right... sleep!

The best slept an average of 8.6 hours a night... (& an average of 2.8 hours of napping in the afternoon).

Put all of this together, it's clear to see that sleep does not hold you back from achieving your goals, achieving optimal health & creating the life you desire, but actually helps you...

The importance of sleep is nothing new; it's well known & rather obvious...

The problem is that...

Common Sense Is Not Common Practice...

In fact, in the case of sleep, it's usually the opposite...

We all know we should be sleeping well, but we struggle to actually do it...

We struggle to fall asleep to begin with... often spending a lot of time just lying in bed, tossing & turning, flipping the pillow to "the cold side" over & over, worrying about tomorrow, or counting sheep endlessly!)

(It's such a paradox... as a society, we're more tired & exhausted than ever, but then when we're in bed, we can't sleep — this is known as 'adrenal fatigue')...

Then, during the night, we wake up more often... as well as fail to get to those deeper levels of sleep our mind & body require to recover optimally...

Finally, when we wake up in the morning... instead of feeling fully refreshed, completely rejuvenated & ready to jump out to start our day (as we should be!)... we feel groggy, tired & completely robbed of energy...

Then, we wonder why we make stupid mistakes, or why we struggle to stay positive, achieve our goals & to be happy...

Yet another study found the #1 factor amongst people who considered themselves "happy" in life was having restful sleep...

And, an even more interesting one in my opinion, found that sleep has a greater effect on a woman's ability to enjoy her day than household income, or even marital status...

Whatever the question, sleep is the answer...

But, instead of fixing (as well as continually improving) our sleep (as I'll show you how to do & train you so that you start getting the best sleep of your life, reaping all the positive benefits I've mentioned)... 

Instead, we often justify our tiredness with mindless excuses...

Here's The Truth About Sleep...

"I just can't fall asleep" people say... 

They assume that it must their age or genetics that are somehow contributing this this...

But, it's not...

Yes, genetics play a small role (as you'll learn), but lifestyle makes the biggest difference here... 

When you take these people who claim that they "can't sleep" & dive deep into their pre-bed routine (or lack of it!), their technology use, the consistency of their sleep & others aspects of their life that regulate their "circadian rhythm" (such as exposure to light, nutrition, exercise), the root causes become clear...

And the solutions becomes obvious...

There are certain genetic pre-dispositions that make some people more likely to wake up earlier, or go to bed later... (which you can actually learn to use to your advantage!)... 

And yes, there is a genetic component to conditions like "insomnia"... but in 99% of cases, it's nothing that a good lifestyle can't reverse & fix permanently.

The same applies to waking up & feeling energetic...

"I'm tired, no matter how many hours I sleep" people say...

This points to sleep quality (not quantity).

Again, it doesn't matter how many hours you're sleeping, if that sleep is of poor quality; you need to improve your sleep quality...

And this has very little to do with your genetics as well...
